  • Discover the charm of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter walking its squares, its narrow, cobbled streets, wrought-iron street lamps, hidden corners and hundred-year-old buildings.

The Gothic Quarter is the oldest part of the city and its historical center. Accompanied by an expert guide, you do not leave anything found on this guided tour of two hours.

You will not walk so much, because the distances between points of interest and highlights are short, but you have to take into account that it will take you about 2 hours if you want to visit the monuments inside.

In the Gothic Quarter past and present of Barcelona come together, from Roman times to the medieval period.

The walking tour begins in the Plaça Sant Jaume, the seat of the local, autonomous government during the Middle Ages and at the present time. Nowadays main buildings here are the Autonomic Goventment Palace of Catalonia and the Barcelona's City Hall.

Next, you’ll explore the narrow streets leading to the Plaça del Rei, a unique site and the historic centre of power during the reign of the Catalan counts and monarchs. Beneath the square lie the remains of the Roman city of Barcino.

On this majestic square stand some of the important medieval buildings of the city: the Palau Reial Mayor which contains the exquisite Saló Tinell banqueting hall, the Chapel of Santa Agatha and the Palau de Lloctinent.

Close to the Plaça del Rei, you’ll explore the Plaça Nova. Here you will see the bronze letters forming the name of the Roman City: Barcino; some archs reproducing the former Acqueduct of Barcelona and 2 Watchtowers with remains of both, Roman and Medieval City Wall of the city. Cross between the old towes to continue your tour.

Access to Barcelona Cathedral, built in different artistic styles throughout the centuries. The interior of the cathedral is suitably impressive with a fine nave and soothing cloister.

Finish your visit discovering the Christ of Lepanto (El Cristo del Lepanto), the image of greater devotion of the temple and its miraculous story.
